ROTT'N GRAPE ON ROOSEVELT ROW

Rott n' Grapes RoRo, now open at Roosevelt Street and Third Avenue, is celebrating its arrival with drink samples, specials and live music on Wednesday, Sept. 26. The new location is in the Historic Gold Spot shopping center that houses Lola Coffee Bar and Pita Jungle.

This is the second Rott n' Grapes in Phoenix. Husband-and-wife team Patty Gii and Keith Shanks opened the original Rott n' Grapes Bistro on Central Avenue just south of Camelback Road.

Unlike the Uptown location, the downtown spot is a full-service restaurant with lunch and dinner, weekend brunch and an expanded drink menu that also offers cocktails. 

Shanks said the new Rott n' Grapes offers more options west of Central Avenue on Roosevelt Street.

"Phoenix is specifically trying to make this easy for new businesses to prosper," he told The Republicvia email. "It's extremely convenient to walk from 7th Street to 7th Avenue in a matter of minutes. Whether if you live, work or just play in the area of the central corridor, the vibe is magnetic."

The 3,300-square-foot space includes the main dining room, a mezzanine, bottle shop and soon-to-open basement bar, called the Onyx.

"As a restaurant primarily, we have a personal relationship with our wines and see them as a side, complementing our dishes," Shanks said. "We also offer more than 40 wines by the glass, and every bottle is offered to-go through our bottle shop."

The wine menu includes 20 varietals and blends. The couple's favorite is the Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon.

Glasses range from $6 to $16. Shanks' top pick? Left Coast Cali's Cuvée Pinot Noir. Gii recommends the Piattelli Vineyards Premium Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.

Signature cocktails are $11. They include the Giggle Water (tequila, Tio Pepe Sherry Fino, lime, simple syrup, sparkling rosé and cucumber ribbon); and Rye or Die (rye whiskey, grapefruit, lemon, simple syrup and orange bitters).

Beers on tap, cans and bottles range from $4 to $7.

Chef Chris Newstrom, conceptualized a food menu with starters ($8-$16), salads ($9.50-$11), burgers and panini sandwiches ($11-$13), pizzas ($13-$15), bruschetta (four for $15) and entrees ($14-$24).

Brunch is served from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekends. Happy hour will start in the coming weeks, when the basement bar opens.

MVP KIDS CARE

Laveen families looking for a local, board-certified pediatric group can now count on the best physicians in the Valley to be there five days a week. MVP Kids Care has been a leading provider of pediatric care in Arizona for more than 50 years.

The pediatric care provider first moved to Laveen in early 2016 , where it took up residency in a temporary office behind Dignity Healthcare and offered care two days a week. With the new office, which welcomes patients between the ages of infancy and 21 years, they are able to operate on an extended schedule, much like their beach-themed Avondale location in the West Valley.
